The soul of the Southerner comes to life

Albert Verlinde Productions and theatre group Maastricht present the spectacular musical Dagboek van een Herdershond in May 2022 in MECC Maastricht. The legendary television series will be brought to life this spring in a specially built pop-up theatre. A major musical in which the soul of the Southerner comes to life!

In Dagboek van een Herdershond, the young chaplain Erik Odekerke joins a religious community in Geleen in 1914. A small farming village in Limburg that is ruled by the notary, the gentleman farmer and the pastor. Due to the rise of coal mines in Limburg, the rich Roman Catholic life is increasingly under pressure. The clumsy, naive Erik tries to hold his own in the Catholic village. But despite his good intentions, he brings many people against him.

History
Dagboek van een Herdershond was broadcast on KRO television from 1978 to 1980 with the Flemish actor Jo de Meyere as the young curate Erik Odekerke. Other roles were played by Ko van Dijk and Renée Soutendijk, among others. The series became a big success and was broadcasted in Germany, Finland and South America, among other countries.

The spectacle musical Dagboek van een Herdershond, directed by Servé Hermans, can be seen exclusively in the MECC Maastricht in May and June 2022.
