Startzone is an interactive discovery experience where all 3rd-year pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) students from South Limburg explore professions, industries, and future opportunities in realistic work environments. It is organized by vocational education institutions with support from government and regional employers.

More than just an event
Startzone is not a one-off moment, but a structural part of the career journey for every 3rd-year VMBO student in South Limburg.

Learning through experience
Over the course of two days, more than 3,500 young people discover what sectors like healthcare, technology, logistics, and safety mean in practice. They meet professionals and alumni, and experience which direction aligns with their talents and interests.

A moment that creates momentum
The visit to Startzone is directly followed up within the schools’ career orientation programs (LOB), helping students translate insights into conscious next steps in their career choices.

Also for parents
On Tuesday, February 10th, there will be an evening program for parents and guardians, offering insight into their role in the decision-making process as well as current opportunities in the regional job market.

Built on regional collaboration
Startzone is a structural collaboration between VISTA College, Yuverta, Gilde Opleidingen, LVO, SVOPL, regional governments, and the Province of Limburg. This joint approach creates a sustainable network in which young talent can grow and remain connected to the region.
