2023 UFI European Conference to be held at MECC Maastricht

Maastricht, 3 June 2022 – From 13 to 16 June 2023, MECC Maastricht will welcome the European exhibitions industry’s most prominent event, the UFI European Conference. Organised by UFI (the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry), the event is attended by 300 leading organisers of international trade fairs, venue executives and service companies active in the event industry.

UFI is the global association of the world’s leading organisers of trade fairs and exhibition venues. In addition to this important network, UFI also brings together a cluster of national and international industry associations and a host of trade fair organisers. UFI’s primary objective is to represent, promote and support the business interests of its members and the trade fair industry in general. UFI represents 50,000 employees worldwide, all of whom work in the trade fair industry, and also works closely with 64 international, national and regional associations. 821 organisations in 86 countries are currently registered as members.

At the annual European Conference, trends in the event industry, case studies and international speakers are all on the agenda. There will naturally be ample opportunity to network and explore the MECC Maastricht venue along with the city and region. Past annual conferences have been held in cities such as Poznan (Poland), Birmingham (UK) and Verona (IT). So many aspects of the conference rely on the host city’s hospitality. MECC Maastricht’s partners, such as Maastricht Convention Bureau, Spauwen Travel Group, Rebelle Maastricht, Houben Souren, and the Maastricht hotels cooperative (SAHOT) are all joining forces to make this event possible in Maastricht.

Oana Cipca, Business Development Manager for MECC Maastricht: ‘MECC Maastricht has been a member of UFI since 2016, and has been lobbying for years to bring this international conference to Maastricht. We are delighted to be able to introduce the 300 international trade fair organisers and venue managers to the many opportunities that we as a city and region have to offer; the hotels, the restaurants and of course the newly renovated MECC Maastricht and our partners. It’s a great opportunity to put Maastricht and MECC Maastricht on the international map for these 300 organisers, efforts that will ultimately result in an even greater economic spin-off for the city and region.’
