From 1 to 3 October 2026, Maastricht will be the host city for the annual European scientific congress of the European Society of Breast Imaging (EUSOBI). With over 1,700 members (radiologists active in clinical practice, education or research), the association’s choice for Maastricht is an indication of the city’s stellar international reputation as a leading player in the medical community. Previous editions of the congress have been held in major global cities such as London, Berlin, Barcelona, Rome and Paris. The 2025 edition will be held in Aberdeen in September.
Euregional cooperation among medical institutes
The successful effort to bring the EUSOBI Congress to Maastricht is the result of the close cooperation with radiologist Dr. Marc Lobbes and his strong regional network, in partnership with Maastricht Convention Bureau and MECC Maastricht. This choice not only underscores the strong regional commitment to the development of medical research and innovation but also provides an important incentive for Euregional cooperation. The arrival of the congress reinforces the ties between five leading medical institutions: Maastricht UMC+, Zuyderland Medical Center, Antwerp University Hospital, Leuven University Hospital and Aachen University Hospital.
